What Causes Panic Attacks?

Quite often it can be as a result of a stressful or traumatic event; for others it appears to ‘just happen out of the blue’, or, it can be a build up of long-term stress or anxiety.  Whatever is the cause, the experience can be very frightening and intense. It is also more common than you may realise.

Signs of a Panic Attack

  • overwhelming sense of fear, apprehension or anxiety
  • nausea
  • chest pains
  • breathlessness / hyperventilating
  • sweating
  • trembling / shaking
  • palpitations / pounding heart

  • dizziness / light headedness
  • numbness
